Middle School Monday: Amina's Voice by Hena Khan

Amina's Voice by Hena Khan

Release date: March 14, 2017

Amina loves to sing and play piano. Her teacher tells her that she has perfect pitch and her parents love to hear her practice. Her best friend Soojin even thinks Amina should be a contestant on “The Voice.” But Amina is positive that will never happen because even the thought of singing in front of a crowd makes her voice dry up and disappear.
So being a superstar singer probably isn’t in her future. She has other things to worry about anyway--her uncle is coming from Pakistan to stay with her family for three months and her dad is so worried about impressing him that he has warned Amina and her brother that they had better be on their best behavior for the entire time her uncle is in town. As if Amina could get along with him for that long!

Instead of worrying about her family, Amina would rather hang out with Soojin, but when another girl starts trying to become best friends with Soojin, even this area of her life seems complicated.

Can Amina find a way to speak up for herself with her parents, her uncle, and her best friend? Or will this be just like her singing--something she longs to do, but just can’t make happen? Find out by reading Amina's Voice by Hena Khan.
