Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson

We're getting closer to NoVA Teen Book Festival! Today Librarian M highlights another of the festival's featured authors:

Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson

Sixteen-year-old Mary Addison lives in a group home after spending  six years in jail. What did she do to serve time at such a young age? She killed a baby—allegedly.

When Mary gets pregnant she realizes she has to put more effort into her life if she’s going to keep her baby so she starts preparing to take the SAT and makes plans for the future with her boyfriend. She even contacts a lawyer on the advice of a fellow resident because there’s more to the story about what happened the night baby Alyssa died.

This story is a look into the mind of a girl who has suffered mental and physical abuse, both before the crime and in jail. I recommend it for anyone interested in how the criminal justice system works or anyone looking for a unique thriller. And the ending—CHILLS!
