Radio Week: 'Dumplin' by Julie Murphy

All week we'll be pairing some of our favorite songs with some of our favorite books...

Dumplin by Julie Murphy

Willowdean tries to be unabashedly herself, but sometimes she can't help feeling like that person isn't good enough for her mom or for Bo, the boy she has a crush on at work. But, the truth is, Willowdean is a great-hearted, supportive, smart and fantastic individual that both her mom and Bo should be proud of having her in their lives.

When Willowdean needs a reminder that she doesn't need to change one thing about herself, she likes to blast some Dolly Parton from her car. But, I think this song also would make a great anthem for her and the other Miss Clover City Beauty Pageant revolutionaries.

"You Can't be Everybody's Cup of Tea" by Kasey Musgraves
Kasey Musgrave has a bunch of songs that are awesome to listen to when you need a confidence boost. This song in particular is an excellent reminder that the only person someone you love should want you to be is yourself. Turn it up and roll the windows down.
