Jennifer's life changes course because of an ad she sees on TV. For a long time Jennifer has been struggling with eating and feeling like she can't connect with her mom or her friends. When she sees an ad for a clinic specializing in eating disorders, she feels for the first time like someone might be able to help her.
What follows is a ten week journey into inpatient help. Jennifer meets other patients who are dealing with the problems that she thought she was alone in having. Then there are the nurses, psychologists and doctors, some of whom she connects with and some she out and out hates. The reader goes along with Jennifer as she attempts to figure out how she can change not only her eating habits, but also how she interacts with her family. Most importantly, she has to figure out a way to deal with disappointments and setbacks without harming herself.
It's a very personal story because it's based on the life of the author. Although this is fiction, it's clear that Jenifer's story is coming from a very real place, which makes her wish to recover something that the reader really hopes will come true.
