Up and Coming: Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between by Jennifer E. Smith

Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between by Jennifer E. Smith

Release Date: September 1, 2015

Everyone knows you aren't supposed to stay together with your high school boyfriend when you go to college. Especially if you're going to go to school in New Hampshire and your boyfriend is heading off to California. It'd be too hard and you'd have to sacrifice too much.

Aidan and Claire care about each other a lot. They make each other laugh and are the kind of couple that has a ton of in-jokes and always seems to be holding hands. But, Claire doesn't want them to end up being the kind of couple who breaks up over Thanksgiving break. She doesn't want to break up over cheating or hurt feelings, better to have a clean break before anything goes wrong. And therefore, she's got a list. The last things she and Aidan should do before they both leave for college... and before they stop being an us.

If you've been thinking about what it will be like to jump out of your high school life and into college, this book gives you a glimpse. Aidan and Claire are some of the last of their friends to head off, so they're hitting their old haunts and seeing younger kids sitting where they used to sit. Not only are they leaving each other, but they're separating from their friends and family members too, so there are a lot of bittersweet moments mixed in with the excitement.

If you are a fan of romance in realistic fiction, then probably already know to watch out for Jennifer E. Smith. Her books are sweet and real- ones that you'll be thinking about fondly after you finish it. Aidan and Claire will fit right in among her previous books as one that you'll reach for on a bad day.
