Dead to Me by Mary McCoy

Librarian M brings us a book for fans of noir:

Dead to Me by Mary McCoy

Alice has been missing her sister Annie for four years when she gets word that Annie is in a coma after a vicious beating. In her sister’s hospital room she meets a private eye who is determined to find out what happened to Annie. Alice, not knowing who to trust, strikes out on her own to investigate. She soon finds herself wrapped up in a world of smutty pictures, murderous movie stars, and corrupt cops.

L.A. in the 1940s is a great setting for this engrossing murder mystery. As Alice makes her transition to passive innocent to world-weary investigator the story gets more complicated and more interesting. I couldn’t put it down!

Recommended for fans of The Girl is Murder and other books featuring teen girl detectives.
