What Do You Mean You Never Read: The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin

The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin

Before there was The 39 Clues or The Seven Series there was another mystery about the heirs of a strange millionaire who leaves behind some even stranger last wishes.

There are sixteen people who recieve letters from Mr. Westing. Sixteen people who don't know each other and do not know Mr. Westing. But sixteen people who all the same are given the chance to win the mysterious investor's millions. Provided they can answer the clues and solve the mystery.

But, should they work together? Should they try to get rid of the competition? Why were they selected? Nothing is as it seems and the more the competitors find out, the weirder everything appears. As the book says,

"They were mothers and fathers and children. A dressmaker, a secretary, an inventor and a judge. And, oh yes, one was a bookie, one was a burgler, one was a bomber and one was a mistake."

We've had a lot of teens in asking for mysteries lately and this one is one of my absolute favorites. It is full of twists and turns and there's a ton of small things to figure out along with the big puzzle. Also, there's the fact that the heirs themselves are terribly interesting and hiding things. This is the ultimate book for puzzlers, if that's you, don't miss out!
