2014's Best Books: Librarian M's Top 5

Librarian M is as usual on her game predicting which books are going to walk away with big shiny stickers on the cover by next January. Grasshopper Jungle has already picked up the Boston Globe Horn Book of the Year! We can't wait to see what's up next for the rest of her top 5.

Crazy science fiction about history and the end of the world. Not to be missed.

Panic by Lauren Oliver (see our full review)

Suspenseful thriller about teenagers playing a dangerous game. More akin to Before I Fall than the Delirium trilogy.

Engrossing, wacky mystery featuring a blind protagonist. Laureth is one of the most interesting main characters we’ve seen this year.

Noggin by John Corey Whaley (see our review)

More science fiction, but this time from a more realistic fiction bent. Great premise, great follow-through.

I’m a sucker for books about the film industry. This one has some great details about production design and a mysterious letter from a movie star.
