2014's Best Books: Kady's Top 5 So far

As always, Kady has some passionate feelings about the books she's read. You won't want to miss her recommendations:

5) We Were Liars by E. Lockhart (see our full review)

All you should know before you read this book is that it's about a family. And that something happened to this family. This is the aftermath- glorious, messy, devastating and beautiful aftermath.

I loved Winger (see our posts) last year and was willing to follow Andrew Smith into battle, if that's where his next novel took us. And it did- a wholly satisfying battle against small town boredom and giant insects who just want to kill, eat and have sex.

A beautiful love letter to Los Angeles, Hollywood glamor and the art of telling a story, Everything Leads to You is the perfect type of escapism for hazy summer days.

2) Cress by Marissa Meyer

The third book in a series I thought was a trilogy, I was not prepared when Cress ended on a cliffhanger. But I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment after this one so masterfully moved all the pieces together to advance the story line and introduce yet another fairy tale heroine into a bionic future world.

1) Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson

It's almost cheating for a book to have a list of tasks that need to be completed drive the plot because I will love it regardless of actual quality. Luckily, Since You've Been Gone was a genuinely compelling read, featuring a list of tasks, loads of music playlists, and a cute boy named Frank.
