Marissa Meyer Visits All TAB

When we told our middle school TAB students that they were going to be visited by Marissa Meyer, the writer of The Lunar Chronicles, we knew they were going to be excited. We didn't know that they would be jumping up and down and hugging each other excited, but they were!

Mother nature worked against us and we had snow on the date of Ms. Meyer's visit not once, but twice! Luckily, the second time the snow wasn't enough to stop school from happening and our over 200 excited students were treated to a fantastic author talk.

Meyer talked about her path to becoming a writer. One that included many a half-finished epic tale and a whole lot of Sailor Moon fan fiction! She also talked about her love for dark fairytales and how the combination of these two things led her to writing Cinder.

The teens got to ask lots of questions and meet the author to get their books signed. It was an amazing day and we think lots of our audience was inspired to write their own novels. Thanks to Marissa Meyer for making a trip BACK to Arlington after her snowy first try and thanks also to the Friends of the Library for providing us with copies of Cinder for all the students who attended the field trip!
