Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles

Release Date: October 1, 2013
Simone Elkeles' Perfect Chemistry series is one of our most popular non-paranormal series. Even when everyone else was writing about the undead, Elkeles continued to show us that there was plenty of romantic tension and heat among the living. And now she's back with a series that is going to revolve around a high school football team in the suburbs of Chicago.

Derek Fitzpatrick did not think that three pigs would change the course of his high school career. But, he's pretty much decided that nothing works out the way you think it will, so he shouldn't have been surprised. One junior class prank later and he's out of boarding school and heading East with his newly acquired stepmother (who happens to be less than a decade older than him) and her son to Fremont, IL.

Ashtyn Parker is used to people leaving but having her sister roll back in to her life complete with her young son and a step-son who is Ashtyn's age is throwing off her game. The new captain of Fremont's football team doesn't need uncertainty right now, she just needs focus. She's fought for her space on the team for four years and she has no time or energy for family drama.

When Ashtyn's football team becomes the source of more drama than even her family could ever provide, she's going to need the help of the one person she doesn't want to ask to make it through. The outsider with a Texas drawl and no chance of sticking around.

Fans of Elkeles' will be far from disappointed with her newest edition. There are sparks between Ashtyn and Derek that start from day one that only get stronger as the two teens try their hardest to ignore the flames. They are both so stubborn that things may get up to five alarm before either one of them admits what's going on. This book will not be on our list of "books that won't make you blush," but the high school romance fan will want to put this series on your watch list right away.
