Time After Time by Tamara Ireland Stone
Release Date: October 8, 2013
In Time Between Us (see our full review) we met Anna and Bennett, two teens who click and are soon involved in a pretty cool relationship. They have a lot in common, including a passion for music. But one thing makes them very different from your average teen couple (SPOILER ALERT FOR BOOK ONE): Anna is a teen in 1995, but the cool boy she's fallen for is a visitor from 17 years in the future.
He can travel through time. Mostly he's used that ability for visiting the best and most legendary concerts of the bands that he loves. Now that he's fallen for Anna, he also uses it to make sure that he doesn't miss her track meets or her school dances. But he's also fallen for everything else in his 1995 life and it's making the rest of his present feel just like somewhere he's stuck while he waits for everything else to catch up.
Is it possible for Anna and Bennett to carry on their relationship
through time long term? This is way stranger than any long distance
thing they've ever heard of?
Also, what does everyone want to do with the ability to time travel? FIX things. Stop terrible things from happening. Use it like a super power. Bennett's never been one to mess with the time line. Before Anna, he stuck to being anonymous in the past entirely, but now he's feeling the temptation to do more. But as any one who reads about time travel knows, messing with what's supposed to happen never goes smoothly, and will the results of Bennnett's choices be worth the repercussions?
The great thing about time travel stories is that they let you think about the ins and outs of what could happen. Bennett's grappling with some serious issues about how much power he should have and what it's okay to interfere with the past. Plus he's doing this all while still trying to keep on top of his homework and keep up with a girl who he can't text or call (and not just because her house has dial up internet and no one has a cell phone).
Time After Time is a smart romantic series that's perfect for realistic fiction fans who want to branch out and read something a little more fantastic. It's also a must for the music lover, the author has lots of great playlists to check out.
