More Than This by Patrick Ness
Release Date: September 10, 2013
Seth is dead. He walked into the freezing Pacific
Ocean and drowned. But then something weird happens: He wakes up halfway across
the world outside his childhood home near London. He is covered in bandages and
the world appears deserted. Weeds are over six feet tall, everything is covered
in a thick layer of dust, and it is eerily quiet. What’s going on? Is Seth in
hell? Is he still alive?
This book is suspenseful and thrilling, but
there’s more to it than the plot. It’s possible to take the whole story
literally and leave it after reading the last page, but hopefully the ideas in
the book will linger and be mulled over for days afterward. (Yeah, yeah, it
really makes you think, but c’mon, it does.)
More books to consider reading after this:
The His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass)
House of Stairs by William Slater
And more Patrick Ness:
