Rookie: More than Just a Book!

Rookie Yearbook One: Edited by Tavi Gevinson

Tavi Gevinson is one amazing young woman. When she was in elementary school, she caught the eye of the fashion community with a blog called Style Rookie. She was invited to the most VIP fashion shows and certainly had her 15 minutes of fame.

But, instead of continuing on as a fashion star or going back to the life of a student. Tavi decided to do something great for other girls, she started the web community/magazine: Rookie. A site for girls and young women by girls and young women. It's full of advice, d-i-y activities, playlists and more. But, what really sets it apart from other websites is how awesomely positive and accepting it is. It's a site where all girls are welcome, everyone is celebrated and women are encouraged to be supportive/helpful/positive of each other instead of being competitive or judgmental.

It's a wonderful site and one that we totally recommend for all teen girls and even for your moms! And now, Rookie is one year old and they're celebrating by publishing a beautiful compilation of their posts from the year. It's a giant, full color, book full of photos, personal stories, advice and more. You'll want to have plenty of time when you tackle this book because when you're done you'll have a list of projects to start, music to listen to and movies you can't wait to watch.

Want to get a sneak peek at what's in the book? Just take a look at their chock-full website, here's a small sample:

How to make a corsage

How to do a two minute beehive

How not to let other people’s drama bring you down.

Pop music, you guys
