I Second That- Teen Review: Perry's Killer Playlist by Joe Schreiber

Our teen reviewer, Libby, has a taste for thrillers and this one is particularly fun:

Perry’s Killer Playlist by Joe Schreiber

At first I wasn’t sure how the premise of Au Revoir Crazy European Chick (see our review here)would work with a sequel unless Perry had absolutely terrible luck with girls.

….Perry has absolutely terrible luck with girls.

The basic plotline is that Perry’s band, Inchworm, is going on a European tour thanks to Perry’s new girlfriend, Paula. Paula works for a record company. She’s also a few years older than Perry and way out of his league. (His words, not mine.) Perry is nervous about the tour because of Gobi and all of the madness that ensued. Inchworm ends up in Venice, but Perry gets lost and all hell breaks loose when Paula also turns out to be an assassin. Perry ends up going on a wild crazy adventure through Europe with lots of explosions and gunfire and murder and such.

I like that all of the chapters are named after song titles. The book is called Perry’s Killer Playlist for a reason, and the playlist is pretty great. It was a fun, fast, quirky, summer read. Check it out. You’ll enjoy it. It’s very much a thriller-action-suspense book with a romantic subplot and lots of explosions. At the end, I really wanted Perry to get a normal girlfriend. Normal as in not an assassin. She can be a ninja, or a pirate, or a gremlin, or a gymnast, or whatever, just not an assassin. Good luck, Perry!
