Spotlight on Summer: Open Art Studio at Westover

Westover Branch Librarian and all-around-awesome person Katherine is back with a look at what she's got going on over at Westover Branch Libary

Starting July 9 at Westover Branch Library we will be letting our artistic side shine with weekly art projects in Open Art Studio!
(he's ready to do art)

Why should you come?

Well…

If you come to three out of the five programs, you'll get an extra special prize. I haven't decided what the prize will be, but if you come to the programs, you will get to help decide… You want Toby's Ice Cream? A gift card to the movies or a store you like? You get the idea. You probably have better ideas than I do anyway.

I figure if you come to three of the programs, you'll see how amazing it is and I won't have to bribe you anymore… but if you come to all five, you'll get a high five, too! Awesome, right?

So you may be wondering what these programs are going to be, we'll have:

July 9, 3:30-5:00 -- Mixed Media Murals: Use your creativity to add pizzazz to the Westover Teen Zone!

July 16, 3:30-5:00 -- Button Gluttons: Make buttons for you and your friends!

July 23, 3:30-5:00  -- Altered Books: Turn a library discard into a work of art!

July 30, 3:30-5:00 -- Fold It: Create origami figures and scenes with special colored paper!

August 6, 3:30-5:00 -- Artist Trading Cards: Make your mark with cards that represent you and your artistic style!

Basically you get to come make a huge mess gluing and painting and drawing and ripping up old books. You really can't go wrong with that!

Extra special bonus: If you are so inclined, your creation will go on display in the library during July and August. Share your art with the Westover world! Come out and come ready to make something awesome!
