In Honor by Jessi Kirby

In Honor by Jessi Kirby

Honor's whole world revolved around her older brother Finn. It's been just the two of them for so long that every major decision in her life has been made by the two of them working it out. That is until he made the decision to join the Marines, that one he made all on his own. All on her own, that's how Honor is going to have to get used to living, because Finn was killed during deployment.

Honor can't believe that she's supposed to go off to college and leave her old life behind. She feels like it would be too much like leaving Finn's memory behind as well, and that's not something she ever wants to do. When she receives one last letter from Finn with tickets to see Kyra Kelly- her favorite singer and Finn's long-time crush, she knows she has to go. Even if it means missing orientation so she can drive cross country to Kyra Kelly's final concert.

What she hadn't counted on was her passenger- Finn's best friend, Rusty. Finn and Rusty hadn't been speaking since Finn changed his plans to head to college and room with Rusty to enlisting, but he came back for the funeral and now he won't get out of Honor's car. So her trip to be alone with Finn's memory now includes one very alive and very annoying college guy. But he does know how to keep Honor, well really Finn's, impala running, so there is that.

Will this drop everything, last minute, tribute to her brother be everything she's hoping for? Or will she and Rusty end up on the side of the road with a smoking impala hundreds of miles from Kyra Kelly?

This is a sweet fast read that gets at your emotions in the quickest route possible. Finn may be gone before the book begins, but Kirby lets his presence be clearly felt and that's what gives the book a lot of heart. It's a great pick up for fans of road trips and contemporary reads.
