Up and Coming: Timepiece by Myra McEntire

Timepiece (an Hourglass Novel) by Myra McEntire

Release Date: June 12, 2012

Yesterday we reposted our review of the first book in the series, Hourglass. If you are a fan of series like Xmen, the Avengers or other books about groups of people with awesome powers getting together to fight evil, you need to get started on The Hourglass Series.  Book two, Timepiece, is coming in June and you are not going to want to miss out.

The members of The Hourglass organization are teens who have thought they were freaks their entire lives.

Kaleb Ballard is not the kind of guy you'd think is in touch with his emotions. At 6' 3 with piercings and tattoos, he looks like your average trouble-maker. Which, to be fair, he is. But he's also an empath-- he can read your emotions from across the room, whether he wants to or not.

Being part of the Hourglass Organization hasn't made Kaleb's life any easier. His mother's in a coma and the man who attempted to murder his father seems to have the ability to slip back and forth across time for his own evil gains. No one seems to trust Kaleb enough to give him the details of all the craziness that is clearly going on. Without that, how is he supposed to help the people he cares about?

If everyone is happy to believe his reputation, then Kaleb has nothing left to do but indulge it. And there are plenty of girls around who are happy to help him with that. But when the Hourglass gets a mission it absolutely cannot turn down, Kaleb is FINALLY pulled in to the thick of things. Will he be able to harness his powers to do more than flirt with them? Will the Hourglass be able to meet the demands asked of them, before it's too late?

Timepiece is such a fun follow up to Hourglass. The change of point of view is the perfect choice, especially because after finishing the first book you really want to know more about Kaleb, who is super charismatic and the type of guy who only shows the outside world what he wants to. Getting a chance to go behind his eyes and see what's really going on with him is very eye-opening. It's also exciting to get Kaleb's story because where Emerson is new to the Hourglass, Kaleb has grown up amongst it, so the reader gets a very different look at what's going on.

It's great to be back in Ivy Springs. The gang is all here: Micheal and Emerson, Dune and Ava. Emerson's best friend Lily, who is a total stand out in Hourglass gets a much bigger part to play here as well. This is a fast moving, action packed-adventure series. Time is ACTUALLY running out and if the Hourglass recruits can't get their acts together, even the past may not be safe...

I challenge you to pick up this series and not imagine it as a big budget movie trilogy! Science fiction fans, action adventure fans, unite! And take a look at this book.

A suspenseful, action packed sequel, laced with sizzling Southern romance, and plenty of snark, Timepiece took everything I loved about Hourglass and upped it a whole new level. Narrated from my favorite character from this series, Kaleb, this book is packed full of humor, plenty of time traveling action and plot twists that kept me holding on to this book until I finished it. Not that I wanted this book to end either. Myra has created these characters I've come to love, worry about and care for. She's also created an incredibly enticing world, and engaging plot line that leaves me wanting more.
