Read This, Watch That: Record Store Edition

This Saturday Record Store Day, as a little celebration of our nations music stores, we're bringing you today's edition of Read This, Watch That. Don't forget that you don't have to wait until Record Store Day to check out a local music store!

The Vinyl Princess by Yvonne Prinz (see longer review here)
There are lots of types of nerds out there. Gaming nerds, Computer nerds, Baseball nerds, but 16 year old Allie is the quintessential music nerd. She is a purist, no downloading for her, she wants the straight fix- vinyl.

This summer she's going to the source, working at a record store and spreading the gospel of vinyl on her blog. But when a crime spree threatens the place she loves above all others, she has to do something to stop it.

This one will have you itching to dig deeper into the land of collecting music. The perfect thing to get you psyched for Record Store Day!

Empire Records

This movie will make you want to work in a record store. It's a 90s teen classic. A group of teens and twenty-somethings work for Joe at Empire Records a store that's been bringing music to the locals since the 50s. Everybody there is either an artist, a musician or someone who wishes they were one of the two. When night manager Lucas discovers that the store is in danger of being turned into a Music-Town Chain store, he decides to take matters into his own hands, at Atlantic City. When things don't go as planned the rest of the team has got to find a way to SAVE THE EMPIRE.

This is also a go-to if you need a dose of 90s alternative music and fashion!
