Up and Coming: Au Revoir Crazy European Chick

Au Revoir Crazy European Chick by Joe Schrieber

Coming October 24

This is one that we had a couple of ARCs (Advanced Reader's Copies) for and they have kind of disappeared as they've been passed around so much that no one is sure where they are any more. And so far, everyone (even those of us with VERY different tastes) has loved this book. When we went to the big book conference in NY this spring, the publishers were calling it, "John Green meets Ferris Bueller meets Le Femme Nikita meets The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." It's pretty hard to walk away from a book with that tag-line, right?

Perry is a nice guy. He's the type of guy who likes to keep everyone happy and basically try and keep under the radar. Tonight though, tonight his band is finally going to be playing a real show with the possibility of people from a record label stopping by.

That is, until his mother decides that he should take their exchange student to prom. Suddenly the night he had been dreaming about for ever is going to be replaced with a night spent in a rented tuxedo with a girl who isn't his date and a room full of people he was hoping never to see outside of the school walls. ever.

And that's exactly what would have happened except for one thing...Gobija Zaksauskas, the exchange student, is not at all who Perry thinks she is. When she hijacks his dad's car and gets them into Jay-Z's club, he knows he is in for the night of his life. When she reveals her sniper training and starts accumulating a body count he wonders if this might be his LAST night. ever.

This is a high calliber thrill ride, that is really funny, really exciting and really hard to put down. We completely buy that Ferris Bueller meets La Femme Nikita stuff, but we'd like to throw in a dash of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and one part Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.
