You are Here: Postcard from China

This summer, the theme of Get Caught Reading (our Summer Reading Program) is "You are Here!" Every Friday throughout the summer we'll be bringing you a post-card from a different part of the world and maybe you'll take a trip there just by opening a book!

Our first YOU ARE HERE Friday post takes us to: CHINA! Pat takes us there:

Are you looking for an action-packed adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat (or bed or beach towel or wherever you like to read)?  Then you should read Tiger, the first book in The Five Ancestors series by Jeff Stone.

Five orphans are raised as brothers by Buddhist monks in 17th century China.  The Grandmaster gives each boy the name of the animal he most resembles and trains him in the martial arts style related to that animal’s particular fighting strengths.  When the temple is destroyed by enemies of the grandmaster, the five brothers’ powers are put to the ultimate test.

A rousing kung-fu adventure, this series will appeal to fans of video games, anime, and anyone who loves a non-stop, page-turning story.

Once you've finished Tiger, you'll want to read the rest of  the books in The Five Ancestors series:
1. Tiger
2.  Monkey
3.  Snake
4.  Crane
5.  Eagle
6.  Mouse
7.  Dragon

Watch  the author, himself an orphan and a martial arts expert, talk  about  the books and show some super cool kung fu moves!
