Why Aren't You Reading this Guy Book? Part 2

Today we continue our look at the covers of a few realistic fiction books that we think guys would love. We've asked some guys to give us their opinions and they were more than happy to let us know exactly what they thought...

On the table today, Will by Maria Boyd:

Will's behavior has been getting him in trouble at his all-boys school in Sydney, Australia, but his latest punishment, playing in the band for a musical production, gives him new insights into his fellow students and helps him cope with an incident he has tried to forget.

We really liked this one, you can see our review here. Will is likeable and funny. This book is perfect for those guys who are sick of the angst and just want something to laugh at. It's also a guy with a guitar book, so if that's your scene, then this one should be up your alley. So, what's the problem?

Guy #1: Will draws me in with the drawing of a guitar and that's enough to counteract that the author's name and "a novel" are written in a pink "girly" font.

Guy #2: Pink is a girl color.  All those people that say "colors are only girly because we have these preconceptions and blah blah blah" are not real humans.  Pink is obviously a girl color.  A pink book cover is a cover that is meant to attract girls.  Thus, the only reason to read this book would be to do so in a park while scamming on ladies.  They might see it (it's hot pink, they'll see it), and think "now this guy's in touch with his feminine side, I can talk to him."  Sadly, I would only be reading the book to ...ahem...get in touch with their feminine side.

Guy #3: Will is too pop princess for me, especially with the cursive author name.  I'd walk right by it.

Guy #4 (our ringer/expert, who works in the book cover industry): Okay, I see where you’re going. Unfortunately, you made several wrong turns along the way. I could spend a good hour typing about why those fonts do not match each other, but I’ll just be brief and say it looks dated.
