Getting in the Holiday Spirit: Dash and Lilly's Book of Dares

Sometimes an adventure is waiting for you, stuck in between "The Catcher in the Rye" and "Franny and Zooey"

Dash and Lily's Book of Dares
by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

Did you enjoy Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist? Authors Rachel Cohn and David Levithan are back and better than ever.
Title character Dash is the king of cynical teens: a brooding, loner of a guy. He's going to be spending his Christmas break alone, by choice as he's convinced each of his divorced parents that he is staying with the other to celebrate. So instead of being wrapped up in "White Christmas" viewing or trimming of trees or lighting menorahs, he's browsing the immense shelves of The Strand bookstore.

And while he's there, visiting one of his favorite authors, there's something sticking out among the shelves. A red moleskin journal with the words "Do you dare" written on a piece of masking tape....

This is the perfect book to take along on your holiday travels. Dash and Lily's dares are hysterical, the city is alive with December preparations and even if you hate EVERY holiday that falls between Halloween and New Years Day you will still find something to love in this book. There's slapstick, a flying baby, majorette boots and more. David Levithan and Rachel Cohn are both fantastic writers on their own, but together they definitely make YA magic happen.
