Bitz and Pieces: The Super-Stuffed End of Summer Edition

It's August, it's too hot. It's time for some serious link-age.  The blog world is a fun and fantastic place this month:

Tavi Gevinson, teen fashion blogger, puts together a video with her sister. It's summery and bright. Perfect for relief from too hot days.
I now present to you, via the always on top of things, Pop Culture Junkie, my current favorite cover look-a-like. These are both great teen reads, but even with the new cover on For Keeps by Natasha Friend, I am always putting these on the wrong shelves. Take a look for yourself and see if you'd be confused!

The group blog "Finding Wonderful" leads us to the answer to the question we've all been dying to know... Why do vampires sparkle??

One of our very favorites, Readergirlz lets us in on some amazing secrets from young adult writers:

Julie Halpern, author of one of our favorite books from 2009, Into the Wild Nerd Yonder, (see the review from us here) shares with us some incredibly bad YA covers.

The Ya Ya Yas have spotted a HOT trend in YA book covers.

The Longstockings have what is probably the most shared by on Facebook article by librarians ever. "Why The Next Big Pop-Culture Wave After Cupcakes Might Be Libraries,"read, enjoy, think about how awesome libraries are.

The incredibly creative Color me Katie has a post on making marshmallows even more awesome.

So, remember that one time when Kristen Cashore wrote a blog post about E. Lockhart's book, The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks  (you can see our review here) and then E. Lockhart was very excited about it? YA Authors' powers combine!

Do you follow GreenBeanTeenQueen? She has lots of great ideas of new books to read and she also keeps me up to date on YA book-to-movie news. For instance, this week she lets us know some disappointing news about the release date of the movie version of Alex Flinn's Beastly.

To finish things off, first a take off on the amazing Old Spice Campaign by the Harold B. Lee Library. Thanks to 4YA for the tipoff:

Not to be outdone at his own game, Old Spice Guy, Isaiah Mustafa, gives a shout out to libraries himself:

via  Bookshelves of Doom!

Hope you enjoyed this whirlwind tour through blogs and books and back!

Another book look-a-like...
Everything is Fine by Ann Dee Ellis and Lifted by Wendy Toliver. Trips me out every time I look at my bookshelf.
