Teen Rockumentary

Sunday January 24, 3 pm @ Shirlington Library
Not rated, 92 minutes

Harry Potter changed the literary world. Then the movies became best sellers and rocked the film world. But, did you know that the young wizard even had an impact on the Music world? Welcome to the world of WROCK (wizard rock)!

Check out this documentary about the the rise of wizard rock bands from less than 30 to over 450, and their journey from obscurity to international media coverage. The film follows the wizard rock community during the year leading up to the release of the final Harry Potter book.

To get you in the mood to rock (or cast spells?), here are some videos from wrockers:

Starting off with Harry and the Potters: "Save Ginny Weasley"

Next: Draco and the Malfoys: "Pansy (You are the girl of my dreams)."

A little bit of fan fiction from The Whomping Willows: "Draco and Harry"

The Parselmouths join forces with Nerimon to bring you: "What Kind of Name is Hermione?"

Roonil Wazlib sings an ode to Ginny and Ron's parents: "Molly Wobbles"

Finally, a bit of a cheat: Hank Green (who only occasionally falls into the Wizard Rock category) with "This Isn't Hogwarts."

For more information on the film showing, please call the Shirlington Branch Library at 703-228-6545.
