May Teen Events @ the Central Library

Tuesday May 6 5:00-6:15: High School TAB! Share, discuss, suggest, and debate your favorite (& your not-so-favorite) books with teens from all of the Arlington high schools. Central Library Young Adult Room.

Tuesday May 6 7:00-9:00: College Information Night! How to Get Ahead in the College Admissions Process. Sophomores and juniors, and their parents, are welcome. Central Library 2nd floor meeting room.

Saturday May 10 2:00: Arlington Reads: This is My Story! Family history & cultural traditions bookbinding project for students participating in the Arlington Reads essay program (April 14-May 3). The program is free but registration is required (call 703-228-5946). 2:00 program is for grades 6-12. Central Library auditorium.

Saturday May 17 1:00-2:30: Resume workshop for teens! Hoping to land a summer job? Want to snag a cool internship? Join us as Nadia Conyers, a career coach from the Arlington Employment Center, teaches a workshop on how to write resumes and cover letters. You can also come with an already completed resume for her to review. And of course bring any job related questions you may have. Central Library Young Adult Room.

Saturday May 17 2:00: Arlington Reads: This is My Story Reception! Participants in the Arlington Reads essay and bookbinding program will read their stories aloud. Award-winning children’s author and illustrator Rosalyn Schanzer will discuss her own family’s immigration experience and share tips on how to write an effective story. Central Library auditorium.

Friday, May 30 3:30-4:30: Rock Out With Rock Band! Play guitar, jam on the drums, sing your head off, and more! Central Library Young Adult Room.
